How safe are vehicles when parked for a few days at the southern terminus trailhead?

I've left my truck in Edgemont three different times and it has been perfectly safe!

I'd think leaving a vehicle on the southern end of the trail would be significantly more safe than the northern part. But you're riding uphll from there, which may be part of the challenge.
