Camping Along the Trail

A group of us (3-4 people) are planning to ride the Mickelson Trail at the end of August. We'd probably prefer to camp but I'm having trouble finding campgrounds that would work for our preferred mileage. We will be on mountain bikes and want to do only about 30-35 miles each day. What suggestions can you make for camping? If camping isn't doable, what suggestions do you have for lodging every 30-35 miles down the trail? We'll be going north to south.

Sharon, this may have been mentioned before but in the Black Hills dispersed camping is allowed with a few exceptions (near camp grounds, around lakes and right along the trail. You just need to make sure you are not on private land. I have used trail heads for water and bathroom facilities then just find a spot about a quarter mile or so away and 50 yards off the trail for camping. You could then find a designated camp ground every couple of days.
