Edgemont overnight parking safety?

We are roadtripping and plan to ride the Mickelson from Deadwood to Edgemont over 2 days. Our vehicle will be left overnight unattended with all of our gear/clothes/food.

We were thinking about leaving the vehicle in Edgemont and getting shuttled to Deadwood the morning of. I have looked at the Edgemont campground, Cowboy Inn, and the Edgemont trailhead.

Is there anywhere you'd recommend to leave our car overnight that would be safest? Or would leaving it in Deadwood and getting shuttled back after our ride be a better option?

I have never left a car overnight in Edgemont, but it is a very small town and they are used to having vehicle stay there because of the trail. Deadwood has a very good parking area for the trail and has regular police patrols. I do not think Edgemont would even have a police department. They are probably patrolled by the county Sherriff. I would not be afraid of either but if the cost and logistics with a shuttle are the same I would prefer Deadwood as a parking place. Overall crime is low out here but teens can be just as bored and stupid in small towns as in big cities.
