We love the black hills and trail but it looks like we cannot enjoy the trail any more!!!

Exemptions for Senior Citizens

There are no specific exemptions for senior citizens regarding the e-bike law on the Mickelson Trail.

All riders, regardless of age, must adhere to the same regulations, which only permit Class I e-bikes.

Implications
Senior citizens who wish to use the trail must use a Class I e-bike to comply with the law.

This uniformity in the law means that age does not influence the type of e-bike allowed on the trail.

The last time I was in Hill City and Deadwood there were a couple of places that rent Class 1 e-bikes. Since the new law passed, there may be more places offering to rent Class 1 bikes. I'm not sure. Here is a link to some of them:
